Custom Engraved Recipe Boards: Turning a Family Recipe Into a Keepsake
How we turn a handwritten family recipe into a laser engraved cutting board, and what makes a good source photo to send us.

One of the most requested keepsakes we make is a grandmother's handwritten recipe card, engraved onto a cutting board. It's a specific request, but it comes up more than almost anything else.
How It Works
Send us a photo of the actual handwritten card, and we engrave it as-is. The same as our handwriting keepsake pieces, keeping the real handwriting instead of retyping it into a font, is what makes it feel like it's still theirs.
Why People Love These
It's functional, not just decorative. It ends up on the counter and gets used for the actual recipe, not tucked away somewhere and forgotten.
What Makes a Good Source Recipe Card
- As clear a photo as you can get, in good lighting
- Shot straight-on rather than at an angle
- The original card if you have it, even with some smudging, we can often still work with it
- Let us know if you want it exact or lightly cleaned up for legibility
Beyond the Kitchen
This works for more than recipes. A handwritten letter or note engraved the same way makes just as strong a keepsake on a different item.
