Personalized Family Tree Signs: How to Choose Names and Layout

Practical tips for ordering a custom family tree sign including how many names to include, layout options, and wood choices.

Custom blue laser-cut family tree sign with heart-shaped name plates and family name at bottom

Our 12-inch laser-cut family tree signs are popular for weddings, anniversaries, retirements, and family gatherings. Each sign includes a custom stand and space for up to 10 family member names on heart-shaped name plates.

Choosing the Right Number of Names

Start with the core family members you want to highlight. Most people use 4–8 names. We can fit up to 10 comfortably. If you have a larger family, we can discuss adding a second level or using a larger sign option.

    Layout Tips

    • Place the main couple or parents at the top
    • Arrange children or grandchildren below in birth order or grouped by family
    • Keep names short and consistent (first name + initial or full name)
    • Choose a wood color that matches the room or existing decor

    Wood and Finish Options

We typically use quality hardwoods with a natural or lightly stained finish. The laser-cut hearts and stand give good contrast. Let us know if you have a preferred wood tone or want a specific stain.

    Customization Process

Send us the list of names and any special requests (birth years, relationship labels, etc.). We create a proof showing the exact layout before engraving and cutting.

    Pricing

The standard family tree sign is $65 and includes the stand. Additional names or custom layouts may affect the final price.
